Delhi is experiencing a political shake-up as Rekha Gupta, newly appointed Chief Minister, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 22, 2025. One of Gupta's primary concerns involves the implementation of Ayushman Bharat— a healthcare initiative that was previously impeded under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rule. By prioritizing this scheme, Gupta aims to extend health benefits to more of Delhi's population. Moreover, her administration is gearing up to approve the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna, aimed at enhancing women's welfare, in an upcoming cabinet meeting. This reflects her commitment to broadening the scope of welfare schemes and aligns with the BJP's agenda for social upliftment.
After accruing a substantial victory in the February 5 elections, where the BJP secured 48 out of 70 seats, Gupta's leadership signifies a fresh chapter for Delhi. Her dedication to fast-tracking important initiatives, from healthcare to women's empowerment, and her unique approach to governance, promises a transformative era for the city.
